Climate pressure is reshaping how people move through cities at the same moment cultural institutions are struggling to sustain engagement and reach new audiences. The spaces communities increasingly need already exist. The connection between people and those spaces does not. That was the inflection point behind Elsewhere. Through the Innovation Studio, ALBC originated and designed a new model: a climate-responsive discovery platform built to connect people with museums, libraries, and community spaces during moments of heat, stress, uncertainty, or need — transforming underutilized public infrastructure into more accessible pathways for refuge, connection, and cultural engagement.
The Outcome
The ambition extends beyond discovery alone. Elsewhere aims to strengthen institutional resilience, expand access to culture, and help cities become more adaptive in a changing world. The long-term vision is infrastructure that makes communities more connected, public spaces more accessible, and institutions stronger in the moments they matter most. Not simply a platform. A new way of thinking about how cities support people when conditions change.
